Contact Form FAQ

Transitioning from Open Email Addresses to Contact Forms on SchoolBlocks Sites

  1. Why are openly displayed email addresses on all staff contact cards being replaced with contact forms?

As part of our ongoing commitment to security and effective communication, SchoolBlocks is replacing all publicly displayed email addresses with secure contact forms. This change protects staff from spam and phishing attacks while maintaining reliable communication channels for your community.

  1. How does this affect how families, students, and community members reach staff?

Visitors will now use a simple embedded contact form to reach staff or departments—no need to copy and paste email addresses or open external mail apps. The form’s responses will be sent directly to the correct recipient, ensuring seamless communication.

  1. What are the main benefits of this change?
  • Spam and security: Staff inboxes are shielded from automated spam bots and phishing attempts, leading to fewer unwanted or malicious emails to better protect your community.
  • Complete information: Custom form fields ensure required details (such as sender name, topic, or school) are always provided, reducing unnecessary follow-up. Users are provided with the option to receive a copy of their message for their own records so there's no missing context.
  • Efficient routing: Inquiries can be automatically directed to the right staff/department, streamlining internal workflows.

  1. Will staff still receive emails from website inquiries?

Yes! Messages submitted via the contact forms will arrive directly at the assigned email inboxes, just as before—only with better screening and organization. It will come from a noreply@schoolblocks.com email address, but also contain important information such as who the sender is, the IP address so we can help verify legitimacy, along with message details. Please see an example below of an email outline teachers and students can view:

  1. How do I reply to emails if they come from a noreply@schoolblocks.com?

One of the best features about the SchoolBlocks contact form is that it acts just like a normal email. Once the sender has been verified as a safe contact, they can ‘reply’ just like any other email thread. Simply click the reply button, and it automatically populates the “To:” field with the sender's email address.

  1. Does this impact accessibility or usability for our community?

This update is designed to improve accessibility—contacting your school staff remains just as straightforward, with fewer steps and improved reliability. All forms are fully accessible after logging in and optimized for every device.

  1. How do parents and community members login to view the contact form and send inquiries to teachers, staff, and administrators?

Parents and community members must login to your school's site using a Google, Microsoft, or Facebook account. Right now, if they do not have one of those three accounts, they can not log in to view the contact form or send a message. We are working on increasing this to include any email services so everyone can login to access the contact form.

  1. Can I turn contact forms off if I don’t want them displayed on Staff Contact cards?

Yes! Turning off contact cards can be done through your staff directory page. Admins for the District or School can click the gear icon in the bottom left to open the Manage Members Menu. This can currently be applied on a per-website basis, so each school and the district can have different policies. Please see below screenshot where the contact form can be turned on and off. To find this menu you must be an Admin at the School or District page you are looking at and click the gear icon in the bottom left of your screen from the staff directory page.
