Gallery and media

Displays photos and videos on a page. Media comes from a connected Facebook page plus images you add directly.

A media terrace on Terraced pages, turned on from the Terrace Menu. Not available on Grid (block) pages. This article covers the Gallery and its media source, not images placed in an About, Statement, or Hero area.

  • Shows photos (as images) and videos (as playable items). SchoolBlocks decides which is which from the item itself.
  • Only media items appear. A Facebook text post is a news item and goes to News, not the Gallery.
  • On phones, shows the first 4 items; the full set shows on larger screens.

Media sources

  • A connected Facebook page — its photos and videos become Gallery items automatically (highest-resolution version for photos). Facebook is the one source type you don't paste a URL for: choosing Add Facebook Feed gives you Search for your Facebook Page with a Search Facebook Pages... box. Type your school's page name and pick it from the results. The same page can feed both a Gallery and News: photos and videos go to the Gallery, text posts go to News.
  • Add Image — upload your own images directly to the Gallery, alongside any pulled Facebook media.

YouTube and Vimeo are not Gallery sources.

Refresh

A Facebook media source refreshes about once an hour on its own schedule. New photos and videos appear on the next refresh; to pull sooner, open the source under Manage Content Sources and click Refresh Feed.

FAQ

  • A Facebook photo album isn't fully showing. Allow up to an hour, or use Refresh Feed on the source. If specific photos never appear, confirm they're public on the Facebook page — the same public-Page requirement as News applies.
  • Facebook text posts aren't in the Gallery. Text posts are news items. Use a News block for posts and a Gallery for photos and videos.
  • How do I add my own pictures? Open the Gallery terrace's pencil (Edit Terrace) menu → Add Image and upload the image.
  • Can I add a YouTube or Vimeo video? No — they aren't Gallery sources. Gallery videos come from your Facebook page.
  • A Facebook video won't play. Confirm it's public on the Facebook page. Private or restricted videos can't be pulled in.
  • Only a few images show on a phone. Expected — phones show the first 4 items; the rest appear on larger screens.
