Shortcuts terrace
The Shortcuts terrace is a terrace containing a row of links. Each shortcut is an icon with a title beneath it.
A page contains at most one Shortcuts terrace.

Shortcuts in this terrace are separate from the shortcut rail that floats at the edge of the screen on a site's pages. The two lists are edited independently, and a change to one does not affect the other.
Layout
- Desktop: six shortcuts across on a wide window, five or four on a narrower one. A seventh and beyond wrap onto further rows.
- Tablet and mobile: three shortcuts across.
The row is static. It does not slide or scroll sideways. Vertical dividers separate the shortcuts, and a shortcut lifts when the pointer is over it. The lift is suppressed while the terrace is being edited or reordered.
A title wraps onto as many lines as it needs and is never shortened, so a long title makes its shortcut taller than the others in the row.
Turning the terrace on and off
- Click the + (Add content) button in the admin menu.
- Click Terrace Menu.
- Toggle Shortcuts on.
Toggling the terrace off hides it and retains its shortcuts. Toggling it on again restores them. The pencil menu on the terrace contains a second control for this, Turn Off Shortcuts Terrace.
Heading
The heading is edited in place. Click it, type, and press Enter to save or Escape to cancel.
A terrace whose heading has never been set displays the word Shortcuts. A heading saved as an empty field is not displayed to visitors.
Adding a shortcut
Click the pencil on the terrace and click Add Shortcut. The window asks What type of link do you want to add? and offers two choices.
| Choice | Behavior |
|---|---|
| Link to an external page | Add the link name and website address which opens a new tab. |
| Link to an existing page | Add a link by selecting a previously created page from a dropdown menu. |
An external link
| Field | Behavior |
|---|---|
| Title | The text displayed under the icon. Required |
| Url | The full web address. Required |
| Icon | Opens the icon picker. Required |
A link to one of your pages
| Field | Behavior |
|---|---|
| Title | The text displayed under the icon. Required |
| Select Page | Searches the published pages of your site. Required. Once a page is chosen, Change Link Target reopens the search |
| Icon | Opens the icon picker. Required |
| Stay in Site | Keeps the visitor in the current school's site when the page belongs to another site in the district |
The search also offers Contact (organization modal), which links to your organization's own page.
Add Link saves a new shortcut and Save saves an edited one. Back returns to the two choices.
An external link opens in a new tab. A link to one of your pages opens in the same tab.
Choosing an icon
Icon opens a picker holding just over 600 icons. Search Icons filters them by name.
The set includes logos for student information systems and school services, among them Aeries, Clever, Infinite Campus, PowerSchool, Schoology, Skyward, ClassLink, Canvas, Alma, Ascender, Focus, Sapphire, StudentVUE and ParentVUE, and MySchoolBucks. The rest are general-purpose symbols.
Custom icons cannot be uploaded. An icon is required, and a shortcut cannot be saved without one.
Editing and deleting a shortcut
Click the pencil on the terrace and click Edit. Each shortcut then carries a pencil and a trash button, labelled Edit Link and Delete Link in their tooltips. Delete Link asks Are you sure you want to do that? Click Close Editor in the pencil menu to leave editing.
Edit appears once the terrace holds one shortcut.
Reordering shortcuts
Click the pencil on the terrace and click Toggle Reordering. A banner reads Reordering on — drag shortcuts to rearrange. Shortcuts are then moved by dragging.

While reordering is on, clicking a shortcut does not open its link. Clicking Toggle Reordering again ends reordering.
Toggle Reordering appears once the terrace holds two shortcuts. Reordering is by dragging only; there is no keyboard alternative.
Color
In Edit mode, Toggle Theme switches the terrace between Theme, which uses your site's colors, and Light, which uses a white background. On phones the terrace uses your site's colors whichever value is set.
Constraints
- One Shortcuts terrace per page.
- There is no maximum number of shortcuts. Beyond six they wrap onto further rows.
- Shortcut titles are indexed by site search. Web addresses and icons are not.
- The terrace can be moved with Move Up and Move Down. The Hero Banner and the Map have no move controls.
FAQ
- "Can a page have two Shortcuts terraces?" No. A page holds one terrace of each type, and shortcuts cannot be split into two groups on one page. A second group goes on a subpage.
- "Can a custom icon or our own logo be uploaded?" No. The icon comes from the built-in picker. It holds logos for the common student information systems, including Aeries, Clever, Infinite Campus, PowerSchool, Schoology, and Skyward.
- "Are these the same shortcuts as the icons along the side of the page?" No. That rail is a separate list held at the site level. The two are edited separately and do not affect each other.
- "How is the address a shortcut points to changed?" Click the pencil on the terrace, click Edit, then click the Edit Link pencil on the shortcut and change its Url or Select Page.
- "Why does one of our shortcuts show its title with no icon?" Its icon value is empty. The editor requires an icon, so such a shortcut predates that requirement or was created outside the editor. Open it with Edit Link and choose an icon.
- "Why do the shortcuts not open when clicked?" Reordering is on. Click the pencil on the terrace and click Toggle Reordering to end it.
