Accordion terrace

The Accordion terrace is a terrace containing a searchable list of collapsible items. Each item has a title, an optional summary, and optional longer page content shown in a window.

A page contains at most one Accordion terrace.

Turning the terrace on and off

1. Click the + (Add content) button in the admin menu.
2. Click Terrace Menu.
3. Toggle Accordion on.

Toggling the terrace off hides it and retains its heading and items. Toggling it on again restores them. The pencil menu on the terrace contains a second control for this, Turn Off Accordion Terrace.

The pencil menu

There is no Edit item on the terrace pencil menu. Each item is edited from its own controls.

Heading

The heading is edited in place. Click it, type, and press Enter to save or Escape to cancel. The heading holds 250 characters.

A terrace whose heading has never been set displays the word Accordion. A heading saved as an empty field is not displayed to visitors. Editors continue to see the Add Title placeholder in its position.

Layout and visitor controls

Items stack in a single column on desktop and on mobile.

Beside the heading, when the terrace holds more than one top-level item and search is not open:

• Expand All opens every top-level item.
• Collapse All closes them.

A search box uses the placeholder Search followed by the terrace heading. Search looks only at accordion items on this page. While search is open or search results are shown, Expand All and Collapse All are not displayed.

Clicking a top-level item expands or collapses it. Press Enter to do the same. Press Escape to collapse an expanded top-level item.

Adding an item

Click the pencil on the terrace and click Add Item.

Save Accordion Item saves the item. Cancel discards it. Delete removes an existing item.

Sub-items

A top-level item can hold sub-items. On a top-level item, Add Sub-Item creates one.

A sub-item cannot hold a further sub-item. The list is two levels deep.

Clicking a sub-item opens its window only when that sub-item has page content. Otherwise the click does nothing.

View More and page content

View More appears on an item when Enable Modal is on. It opens a window with the item's longer content, a Share control, and a page link for that item.

Page Content (Optional) is the rich text field for that longer content. It appears in the item window after you open that window with View More (or by clicking a sub-item that has page content) and click Edit. The first Add Item form shows title, summary, and Enable Modal only.

Images uploaded into page content are compressed to 2 megabytes.

Reordering

Click the pencil on the terrace and click Reorder. Drag items to a new position. Sub-items stay under their parent within the two-level limit.

Constraints

• One Accordion terrace per page.
• Items are two levels deep: top-level and one level of sub-items.
• The terrace can be moved with Move Up and Move Down, but not above the Hero Banner or below the Map.
• Toggling the terrace off does not delete items. They return when the terrace is turned on again.

FAQ

• "Why is there no Add Sub-Item on my new sub-item?" Sub-items are the second level. Only a top-level item can hold sub-items.
• "I turned on Enable Modal. Where is Page Content?" Open the item window with View More, click Edit, then use Page Content. The first Add Item form shows title, summary, and Enable Modal only.
• "Why is Reorder missing from the pencil menu?" The terrace has fewer than two top-level items. Add a second item and Reorder appears.
• "Why did Expand All disappear?" Search is open or showing results, or the terrace has only one top-level item.
• "Can a page have two Accordion terraces?" No. A page holds one terrace of each type.
