Block Help: News Block

The news block is designed to showcase the contents of your internal pages (to learn how to create an internal page, click here). It also has the capability to display your SchoolFeed content, provided that the popup widget is enabled for administrators only.

Utilizing the News block allows you to present news in various formats on internal pages, such as movies, documents, and messages. When clicking on a specific item within the news feed, the originating block is revealed in a pop-out modal while ensuring that the user remains on the main page.

Setting it Up

    • News blocks reference sections, groups, or department pages, bringing that content to a different location without relocating the blocks
      • Add all applicable content to your internal page (must be internal a section, group, or department).

      • Add a News block to the new location where you need this content

      • From the drop-down menu, select the page you would like to display in the News Block.

      • Editing News Block

To edit a news block, click within the header of the news block (not the content). This will open the internal page, where you can add or edit existing blocks.

        Order of Items

This block sorts news items based on their location within the internal page. The numerical order starts at the top left and ends at the bottom right. Adding blocks to the top left will sort that block at the top of the displayed list in your News block.

Tips and Common uses

    • The contents of the grid are listed in the order of the blocks placed in the underlying grid.
    • Title every block on the source page so the news block will display the title in the list.
    • Incorporate content from any area of the site onto another page using the news block.
    • This block is commonly used for Q & A content or to display heavy content without taking up too much space.
