Block Help: Adding Files Block

Files Block

The Files Block is one of the greatest features of SchoolBlocks. It's very simple. SchoolBlocks does not store files and folders on our sites like every other vendor. Instead, we keep your files and folders in your Drive(Google or Office), and we point to them with a shared link. This prevents you from having 2 version of everything on the website. One in Drive and one on the site.

When you add a shared link to our Files Block, it will display the file or folder from your Drive. If you edit the file or folder in Google or Office, the block will update. No need to login, go to the page, and re-upload your files and folders every time you make a change to them.

Important to know before you start.

Shared SettingsAny file or folder you want to display in the files block must have shared settings in Drive of "Anyone with the link can view", as seen below.

To change the shared settings of a file or folder in Google Drive or One Drive, right click on the file or folder and select "Share" from the menu to access the shared settings dashboard.

For OneDrive Share Settings, please check out the following snippet:

Now that the shared setting is correct, you are able to display the file or folder on SchoolBlocks within the Files Block.
