Block help: Alerts Block

Often used for last minute schedule changes, weather delays, testing times and any sudden emergency.

There are two types of alerts, banners and overlays. A banner will appear between the header and the grid. An overlay masks the entire website like a popup. Each alert can be customized to appear on a single site or all subordinate sites with start and end dates.

Alert colors are managed in the Appearance Menu.

1 - Banners: Appear between the header and the first blocks in a grid.

2 - Overlay: These alerts mask the entire site with a faded background. The audience must click the close button to continue onto the website.

Features:

  • Timing: All alerts can be timed to start and end on a specific date. The alert will display starting at midnight on the ‘start’ date, and disappear at 11:59pm on the ‘end’ date
  • Multiple alerts can be added to the sites at any time. If two or more alerts of a common type (banner or overlay) exist, the alerts will be merged, with the messages displayed vertically stacked within the banner.
  • Inheritance: Alerts can be inherited to all sub-sites to get the message across to anyone who views any page. Check the box ‘show message on all subordinate pages’ to turn on inheritance. If an alert is set up with inheritance at the district website, all schools, sub-sites, and classroom websites will display the alert when the page is visited for the first time. Even bookmarked pages will display the alerts.
  • Appearance: Customize the appearance of your website’s alerts in the district’s configuration setting. Look for the ‘alert settings’ option just below ‘theme settings’. Match the colors in your current theme settings, or make the colors very different, so the alert stands out.
