SchoolBlocks leverages the latest in app technology through the deployment of a Progressive Web App (“PWA”). The technology is at different levels of adoption depending on the platform (i.e. Apple, Google, Microsoft, desktop or mobile). The following answers many common questions.

• Coming Soon: If Google Classroom, Schoology or Canvas integrations are enabled, the app's homescreen is the person's personal feed. Otherwise, it's the school or district's home page.
• Navigating the website with the app requires less bandwidth and is notably faster.
• Takes up nearly zero space on your phone compared to 10MB-20MB+ with an iOS App.
• The website will work offline as long as the user has visited at least once while online.

Chromebooks and Androids

On ChromeOS devices, the app can appear in the launcher and domain-wide installations become a possibility with a few additional steps.

How do users download the app?

Once the app has been enabled in the district’s configuration, users will see a prompt above the page when on mobile. If the prompt is closed, it will not appear again. Additional steps with some associated fees are required for the app to appear in the Google Play or Apple store.
