Staff terrace
The Staff terrace is a terrace displaying staff profile cards from the page's staff directory in a scrolling row.

This article covers the terrace. For how staff cards are synced from Google or Office 365 groups, see Staff directory sync. For how email appears on a card, see Staff email display options.
Staff cards are not stored on the terrace. They come from the page's directory mapping. Toggling the terrace off hides the display only.
A page contains at most one Staff terrace.
Turning the terrace on and off
- Click the + (Add content) button in the admin menu.
- Click Terrace Menu.
- Toggle Staff on.
Toggling the terrace off hides it and retains its heading. Staff cards are unchanged. The pencil menu on the terrace contains a second control for this, Turn Off Staff Terrace.
The pencil menu
On a section, group, or department page, an admin sees:
| Item | Behavior |
|---|---|
| Add Staff | Opens the Associated Groups & OUs window for this page |
| Reorder Staff | Turns on drag-to-reorder for staff cards on this page |
| Move Up and Move Down | Move the terrace. Disabled at the top and bottom of the page |
| Turn Off Staff Terrace | Hides the terrace |
On a district or school home page, and for editors who are not admins, Add Staff and Reorder Staff do not appear. Move Up, Move Down, and Turn Off Staff Terrace still apply when the pencil is available.
Add Staff is a shortcut to the same Groups & OUs mapping described in Staff directory sync. The window title is the page title followed by Associated Groups & OUs. You do not add people one by one on the terrace.
Heading
The heading is edited in place. Click it, type, and press Enter to save or Escape to cancel. The heading holds 250 characters.
A terrace whose heading has never been set displays the word Staff. A heading saved as an empty field is not displayed to visitors. Editors continue to see the Add Title placeholder in its position.
Layout
Cards sit in a horizontal slider. Card size is smaller on narrow phones than on desktop.
- Desktop: the slider arrows move through cards. The Search Staff Members field is not displayed.
- Mobile: Search Staff Members is displayed above the cards.
When no staff match the current view, the terrace shows No Staff Members found.
A header View More link to the full staff directory at /staff appears only on the title-organization page. On mobile, a View More link to /staff also appears on non-department pages. Department pages show neither.
Reordering staff
Click the pencil on the terrace and click Reorder Staff. The heading reads Reorder Staff Members. The instructions are:
- Click and hold on any staff member
- Drag to reposition in the desired order
- Release to place the staff member
- Changes are saved automatically
Finish Reordering ends the mode.
Reorder applies on section, group, and department pages. Manual order is not used on a title organization the same way; those pages do not expose Reorder Staff in the pencil menu.
Visitor behavior
Clicking a card opens the person detail window used elsewhere on the site. Email display follows the site Staff Contact Options setting. See Staff email display options.
Constraints
- One Staff terrace per page.
- The terrace can be moved with Move Up and Move Down, but not above the Hero Banner or below the Map.
- Staff membership is controlled by Groups & OUs sync, not by the terrace editor.
FAQ
- "Why is there no search box for staff on my laptop?" Search Staff Members is shown on mobile only. On desktop, use the slider arrows, or open /staff from View More when that link is present.
- "Why can I not reorder staff from this terrace?" Reorder Staff appears only for admins on section, group, and department pages. It does not appear on the district or school home page.
- "How do I add a person to the Staff terrace?" Map the correct Group or OU under Add Staff or Page Settings → Groups & OUs. See Staff directory sync.
- "Why is someone's email hidden behind Click to view email?" The site Staff Contact Options setting controls that. See Staff email display options.
