The "Terraced" page

'Doing more with less' is at the heart of the SchoolBlocks ‘terraced’ page.  This page type requires less time while being more beautiful.

The terrace page uses the long-scroll format which leverages sections (or 'terraces') to separate content into news, events, files etc.  Administrators insert the content into the page via individual posts or a stream of content from calendars or third-party feeds. The page does the rest by placing the content into the correct section automatically which removes your obligation to decide where things go.

From within the page settings button, you can find "Page Types."  When the terraced page is on, you’ll notice every terrace has a show/hide button.  Use these to customize your page.  Previewing the page enables you to get it ready before publishing.  The preview button is sharable.  To add content, click the ‘plus’ button then choose the content type.

Available Sections

  • The hero offers a full-width image or video.  Choosing more than one background will load each randomly.  At the school or district level, an additional shortcut menu is available to visitors to jump between schools.  The right links appear as a consistent element as you scroll down.  We’ve added icons to popular student information systems for those that want to create shortcuts to their most used school apps.
  • The about section gives you a simple spot to describe the page and if you’d like, add an adjoining video.
  • The news section shows 5 items and does its best to integrate any imagery.
  • The events section loads the month’s events on the left and uses the thumbnail to skip to the day of interest.  The day’s events are in red!
  • The files section can include files or folders.  Clicking on a file opens the preview on the right and clicking on the preview opens the file in a full-screen view while keeping the visitor within your site.
  • The gallery adds a visual treat to your page!
  • The links section (coming soon) gives you an opportunity to add links to internal or external pages and associate links with icons and descriptions.
  • Finally, the ‘map’ section offers contact information and uses the school’s address as the center and if a district, shows all the school locations.
